Welcome To Dance Your Story

Begin the creative writing process non-verbally

Our movements communicate ideas. The music on this site was composed to help children communicate their ideas non-verbally.

Try this out:

    • Select a piece from the site, ask your kids to move as the music plays, and, at its conclusion, ask, “What were you imagining?” Then jot down their ideas on a whiteboard or large piece of paper, etc. This works well for younger children who might need more support thinking through their ideas.
    • Another possibility is to have kids get into small groups and talk through a possible storyline. Their initial ideas might not be an entire story, but they will be more than enough to get them started.

For older kids, have them get into small groups and share their ideas with each other and then have them transfer their thoughts onto paper.

Enjoy,
